Why volunteer?

Dutch Kills CSA is a volunteer-run organization. Members are required to work three volunteer shifts per year. Each week’s distribution is divided into two shifts: 3:30–5:30 and 5:30–7:30. The early shift includes an hour to set up the distribution site. Distribution ends at 7:30 sharp and clean up must be finished by then. An on-site coordinator will work the entire distribution shift and organize the volunteers. Click here or the button below to sign-up for your three volunteer shifts. A few days before your each of scheduled shifts you will receive a reminder and instructions.

help strengthen your csa!

Your core team works hard to make sure that Dutch Kills CSA is well run. Looking ahead, we plan to offer equity shares in 2020 so our CSA is affordable to everyone in the community who wants to join. We hope we can count on you to help fund the Dutch Kills CSA equity shares program. You can find a donation link in our store page.

What is a site coordinator?

A site coordinator supervises the volunteers and is at the CSA site for the whole distribution from 3:30 to 7:30. The site coordinator assigns tasks to the volunteers—including set up, signing in, distributing vegetable and fruit shares plus any extras, and clean up. We find that the CSAs that run most smoothly have on-site coordinators present for the entire distribution.
